Literacy
We will be introducing the letters W, N and P. Our library will include many books about the winter season including some favorites… Snowmen at Night and Bear Snores On.
Let’s make our own Wish book. What do you know about a Walrus, Narwahl or Penguin? Let’s learn! Bears learn N for Numbers, P for Pentagon and W for visual artist Andy Warhol.
Art
Wood sculptures, Polar Bear process art, Watermelon art, Melting snowman with thoughts on paper, a brown bag bear cave, a winter tree and art for our new bulletin board displays.
Science
Pepper science, How do animals stay warm in winter and a blubber experiment! We will explore the process of how Paper is made. Which animals hibernate, migrate or adapt?
Social Studies
What does a Nurse do?, Let’s find Nigeria, Poland and Wales on a map. Emotions: Worry, Proud and Nervous.
Cooking
Hedgehog bread and Polar bear cookies. We will also try Papaya at snack time!
Dramatic Play
Hibernation cave, Nurse’s station, Pizza Parlor and Post Office. Plays with a twist!
Math
Bear cave counting, How much does it weigh?, Snowflake counting.
Gross Motor Skills
Arctic Animal Yoga.
